Lucy Stronach has been honoured with the prestigious 7News Western Australian Young Achiever of the Year Award for 2024, presented by The Hon Hannah Beazley. The awards ceremony took place on Friday, 7 June at Pan Pacific Perth and was attended by over 400 guests. Earlier in the evening, Lucy was awarded the Community Service and Volunteering Award, proudly sponsored by The Grand Lodge of Western Australia and Masonic Care WA . This award celebrates young individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities through dedicated volunteer work and outstanding leadership. At 29, Lucy exemplifies the essence of this award with her unwavering commitment and impactful service.
Presenting the award for Community Service and Volunteering was MW Bro Peter Kirwan, Immediate Past Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Western Australia. His presence highlighted the importance of recognising the efforts of young leaders who tirelessly work to better their communities. MW Bro Kirwan drew a worthy ovation from the audience upon sharing the commitment of the Freemasons to community service, noting that their donations and subsidies for the WA community total over $1 million each year.
Lucy’s volunteer efforts have made a direct difference to hundreds of individuals and indirectly impacted thousands more. As the Youth Programs Officer at the Town of Victoria Park, she supports over 6,000 young people, fostering a sense of safety, belonging, and empowerment. In her role as Program Manager for the Hello Initiative, she assists approximately 100 young people within the justice system, leading to significant reductions in offending behaviour and improved access to education and training. On the international stage, Lucy has represented Australian youth at the United Nations, advocating for the needs of over 2,500 young Australians. Her efforts have amplified their voices to global leaders and Australian MPs, resulting in meaningful changes. Despite facing numerous challenges, including financial difficulties, personal safety risks, and health issues, Lucy has remained dedicated to her mission of supporting and uplifting her community.
