Christmas is a time for celebrating with family yet some children have never had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas as we know it. In true Freemasonry spirit, some dedicated members of The Swan Lodge have set about helping local charity, The Foster Share Shed by donating their time and energy in helping to source and distribute over 300 brand new toys for 150 children in foster care. To help give them the best Christmas they’ve ever had, toys were distributed at The Foster Share Shed’s kid’s Christmas party held on December 7th. A lot of good vibes were generated and the foster children and their carers sincerely appreciated the effort that was put into this very worthwhile cause.
It is important that a child in care feels like they belong. Children typically come into care with nothing. They have no belongings, sense of security or ownership. The Shed assists with that, they can come and select and take what they like. This allows them to assume control and ownership in a world that is very confusing and traumatic for them.”
