Grand Inspector of Workings Message April 2023
Brief Explanation of the Role of a District Grand Inspector of Workings (DGIW’s)
The role of a DGIW as a representative of Grand Lodge will give assistance and guidance to the Lodge, on Lodge workings as required and ensure Lodges are familiar with any changes to Ritual or Manual of Rulings. He is also responsible for presenting or arranging for the presentation of Grand Lodge Certificates and Service Jewels. DGIW’s are required to attend rehearsals and meetings for Installations. DGIW’s should only be attending some rehearsals and meetings of Lodges, in fact, attending any more than 4 meetings a year is not expected. The DGIW’s are there to assist Lodges within their Districts and should be approached with any matters of concern on Lodge workings or interpretations of the Manual of Rulings. If the DGIW cannot give an immediate answer, he will seek out the answer. The DGIW is encouraged to arrange and promote the training of Lodge members within his district. Reports are submitted to the GIW and Deputy GIW on Lodge Workings drawing attention to areas that may need attention or areas where exceptional work has been carried out.
How is your Lodge going?
This is a question all Lodges should be asking themselves, both short-term and long term and should have a strategic meeting to have these discussions. If and when your Lodge has these meetings and wants some assistance or guidance, please contact your DGIW, who will either attend your meeting or arrange through the GIW or Dep. GIW for someone to attend.
Educational and Training
On the 28th of May, a Deacons Training Course will be held at Subiaco commencing at 9.30 am. Current Deacons, soon to be appointed Deacons or Master Masons keen for knowledge should attend. DCs are also encouraged to attend to ensure there is a constant message being taught.
The Kingsley Family of Lodges have requested some training sessions, and soon as the date and required training required is known, trainers will be provided, and the details will be circulated.
At Country Installations, the GDC and some Grand Officers are prepared to arrange times around their visit to give some Deacon training to those interested. If required, The Lodge secretary should contact the GDC of the day prior to the Installation to arrange a time.
If any country area or Metro District would like some specific training, please contact your DGIW, who will either arrange of will contact the GIW or Dep GIW, and arrangements will be made.
